Judy Chicago Essay Judy Chicago Essay Contemporary artist Judy Chicago is a historical fact checker. She has always been aware that the history of men, also termed world history, has viciously omitted acknowledgements of womenââ¬â¢s paramount contributions. Beginning in the late 1960ââ¬â¢s, her inquiry into the margins of history where womenââ¬â¢s lives remain is a result of her desire to expose the truth of womenââ¬â¢s shrouded experience, past and present. Women, for the most part, have been written out of history and the canon of art history. Their accomplishments, personalities, heroic stories, creative expressions, and struggles have been rendered irrelevant and secondary compared to the androcentric point of view that history, culture, and society has succumbed to. Through an art practice that is informed by these injustices, Chicago has created works and a paralleling iconography that serve to express womenââ¬â¢s essence, experience, and aesthetics, as well as the burgeoning goals of Feminism in the 1970ââ¬â¢s. This paper will discuss how sexual inequality had affected Judyââ¬â¢s life, view of value and her style of artworks by looking at historical and cultural background also other female artists at the time. Judy Chicago was born Judy Cohen in 1939 to two hardworking, non-practicing Jewish parents. Her father, a union organizer, cultivated a sense of assured intelligence in his daughter so that she could learn the art of articulating her beliefs and opinions. Her mother, a lover of the arts, encouraged Chicagoââ¬â¢s interest in art-making and art history. In Chicagoââ¬â¢s autobiography Beyond the Flower (1996) she reflects upon her active pursuit of opportunities for artistic involvement. During the span of her childhood, Chicago continuously took art classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. She recalls wandering through the art museum and marveling at the renowned and innovative works in the collection. She had a sharp eye for underlying structure and was able to engage with the paintings aesthetically. She notes, ââ¬Å"As observant as I was, however, the one thing that I totally failed to notice was that nearly all of the art at the museum was by men. But even if I had noticed, I doubt that I would have been at all deterred from my own aspirations [to be an artist]â⬠(Chicago 2). The predominating position that male artist hold not only within the museum but also within history would become a point of reference for Chicago later in her career. She relocated to Southern California and received B.A. in fine arts and humanities 1962 and MA in painting and sculpture in 1964 at UCLA (Chicago 5). During this time, she was creating art that was characterized by personally relevant subject matter and an expressive, metaphorical use of bodily forms. Paintings such as Mother Superette (fig.1, 1963) and Bigamy (fig.2, 1963) display organic forms relevant to her as a woman barely shadowed under the guise of abstraction. When confronted with th e negative critique of creating ââ¬Å"womanââ¬â¢s artâ⬠Chicago withdrew from personal/sexual ââ¬Å"feminineâ⬠expressions and focused on the industrial sculpture. Artists such as Larry Bell led interest in formalism, minimalism, and works that were devoid of emotional content. Driven to be successful within this predominant style, Chicago enrolled into auto body school to learn how to spray paint, attended boat-building school to learn how to mold fiberglass, and apprenticed as a pyrotechnician to make firework displays. To further remove herself from the negative identification of a woman attempting to be an artist, Chicago felt pressured to convince the contemporary male artists working around her that she was serious and therefore unfeminine. Despite all of her efforts, she was continuously told that women couldnââ¬â¢t be artists and the respectable art that she created was given value based on how much it looked as if a man had made it. Godhead On May 20, 325 AD the world was forever changed. Emperor Constantine called a meeting of the 318 Bishops at Nicea and on that day they instituted one of the greatest flaws of American religion today. This is the doctrine of the Trinity, suggesting the view of the Oneness doctrine, believing on one God and His name being Jesus, is no longer correct. The Trinity doctrine cannot be proven by simply reading the scriptures; it has to be described and explained in detail, before you can begin to see the Trinitarian view. The Trinity doctrine is a doctrine of inference, not a doctrine of fact. If you ever listen or take part in a Oneness verses Trinity debate you will find that as long as they are quoting scriptures the Trinity looses ground. Hence, the doctrine of the Trinity must be ââ¬Å"injectedâ⬠into the scriptures to prove itself. One man once said ââ¬Å"The Trinity has to be piped into Scripture before it can be piped out.â⬠The best example is: everyone knows you canââ¬â¢t get milk from cotton. But, if you take the cotton and soak it in milk first then you can squeeze the milk from the cotton. In the same sense the Trinity doctrine is like this. Before you can begin to see the Trinity doctrine, someone has to tell you about it and then go to scripture to prove it as fact. By just reading the scriptures first, no one will ever find the Trinity represented, for the scriptures prove the Oneness of Jesus Christ all through the Bible. I do not understand how the doctrine of the Trinity can get around the unity of the Old Testament and New Testament stating the One God facts. Deuteronomy 6:4(NKJV) states: ââ¬Å"Here, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:â⬠. That sums up the doctrine of the Oneness. But, one instance will not satisfy. Here are just a few of the misconceptions of the Trinity Doctrine that cause it to be in fault: First: ââ¬Å"Elohimâ⬠ââ¬Å"Elohimâ⬠, meaning "God", is sometimes confused to show the plurality of the Godhead, this is not a correct interpretation. In the Hebrew words are plural in construction but singular in the way that they are used. Also the Hebrew often used plural forms to show majesty or greatness of one person or deity. Even though these are plural words, to say they represent a multiplicity in the Godhead would be wrong.

Abortion favoring Pro Choice Essay
Abortion is one of the most controversial and hot issues debated, and is an issue thatà will never be agreed upon, just going round and round in circles. By bringing morals, which are derived from personal conscience, into the question of whether the government should abortions, this matter has been promoted to a higher level of argument. It is no longer viewed as a decision made from choice but as a question of principals, and these concepts have led to a full-blown argument concerning matters that really should not be questioned. Every woman in the world should have the right to decide how to carry their beings. No government should feel that they have the right to dictate to a person what road their lives should take. Those claiming ââ¬Å"pro-lifeâ⬠are really no more than ââ¬Å"anti-choiceâ⬠. These pro-lifers crave to put the future of women into the hands of the government. Abortion, and any medical decisions women make, are very private and should never be available for debate. The question of morality canââ¬â¢t be a valid argument concerning abortion, because it is not of morality but of option and constitutionality. That does not mean that they allow the government to pass laws directing what women do with their bodies. Those who are pro-choice simply believe that it is the right of a woman to assess her situation and decide if a baby will benefit or be devastating to her live. People that are opposed to abortion donââ¬â¢t take a many things into consideration. For one, consider how the life of a teenager may be ruined if an abortion is not available. Another thing not assessed is the severeà family trauma that will result if a baby is forced, by law to be born. Those opposing abortion are unwavering with their ideas and believe that they have a solution to every situation. Pregnant? Try adoption! They will help you support the baby. What ever the womenââ¬â¢s situation may be, the conservative will not bend. Many suggest adoption as a practical alternative to abortion. But, in reality, this is not a decent substitute. The majority of middle class white couples that are willing to adopt do not want to adopt the mixed race babies (which are the majority put up for adoption). Why else would there be a waiting list for couples to be held in for a few years when there are so many other kinds of babies out there? Would those to claim to have a heart and save a life like these unwanted children grow up as wards of the state, living a life of distress and misfortune? To all of those fighting for laws that will make abortion against the law: do you really think that the law will stop a woman from carrying out with the abort of an unwelcome pregnancy? Drugs are illegal and there plenty of people out there still using. The only thing a law against abortions will achieve will be forcing pregnant women to seek medical attention in unsafe situations, leaving them with not only in the termination of the pregnancy, but perhaps their own lives as well. For a prime example when abortion was prohibited in the 1940ââ¬â¢s, there were still cases of women seeking help elsewhere. The only alteration though, is that these women typically ended up dead because of hemorrhaging or infection. Bottom line, if a woman wants an abortion, illegal or legal, nothing will get in her way. Why would pro life people, who allegedly put so much significance in life, want to jeopardize the live of another person? Donââ¬â¢t get me wrong, if legal abortion is banned, some abortions may be prevented. A woman may not be able to fund an alley-way, black market abortion and would have to deliver. This will be quite unfortunate. Naturally, Mother would be depressed, and in all actuality not deliver the proper care, may drink, do drugs, or any other thing she could do to harm the life of the baby and herself. Post delivery, the mother could very well resent the baby, realizing that it has trashed her chance of ever carrying out her objectives in life. If these women mandated into maternity do happen to keep their child, there is a significant chance of child abuse and neglect. These surplus kids, raised by the state or disregarding parents, would thenà give birth to yet the next generation of unwanted children. Moreover, in some desperate and impulsive situations, new mothers may become inconsolable, having the idea that since they could not have an abortion they will kill their baby right after birth, thinking they would get away with it and continue on with there lives before the whole wrenched scene. After all of these scenarios are considered fairly by an open-minded person, abortion is the better of them. Many of those who are pro life argue that any of these situations are preferable to abortion. They ultimate goal, they think, is to have the child be alive. They claim that it is unfair and unjust for anyone to take that choice of life away from the fetus. Essentially, what they really want is to take the choice away from the mother and give it to the unborn child, giving them this wonderful prospect to be brought into a loveless, forlorn, and cold society.

She is a former child domestic worker who entered domestic work at nine years old, enduring her employerââ¬â¢s abuse. It is even seen as normal that young girls enter into domestic work, as it is useful preparation for their later life when they will look after their own home. With suitable working conditions, usually seen as better than their current living situations at home, and better opportunities, especially for education, the girls enter into domestic work with high hopes. However, this is often not the case and child domestic workers are instead subject to exceptionally long days, unsatisfactory living conditions, a lack of education (even if they were previously promised it) and sexual and physical abuse. In the Philippines, domestic work can even be a lure to entice these girls across borders and into worse forms of labour, such as prostitution. In 2012, the ILO produced Global Estimates on Forced Labour. This report shows that 17.2 million children are in paid or unpaid domestic work in the home of a third party or employer and that 65.1% of all child domestic workers are below 14 years with 7.4 million aged 5 to 11 and 3.8 million aged 12 to 14 (International Labour Organization, 2013). The average entry age for this work is between nine and fourteen years of age, with some girls as young as seven. There are more girls under the age of sixteen in domestic work than any other type of work.
